Intermission

Another little section of my travel ends today. I've been housesitting in Sutton (about an hour from Central London) for about two weeks. This place has been a mixture of good and bad. The best thing about it has been that it is free. Also I have my own space, I can watch as much CSI, Law and Order, and Cold Case as I like, and nobody has to know (though for some reason I keep blogging about it, when I really could lie and say I have been lifting weights and learning Spanish, which would have been a far more productive way to spend two weeks). I've had a place to lay my head every night, a wifi connection to blog from, to Facebook on, to job-hunt on and to house hunt on. I have a kitchen to cook in, and a hot shower to wash and sing in. So, with all those things, I am very grateful to have had these last two weeks here. I've also felt a bit stuck here. It is quite far from London, and quite scary to get home at night. It's not near anything really, so I can't just wander up to the pub to try to make a friend, or take myself to the movies or out to dinner.. I've been pretty isolated. I have definitely been talking to myself a little more.

...and pretending to be Beyonce Knowles a little more..
I'm definitely looking forward to the next phase of travelling. The next bit being an intermission, between Sutton and Paris. So, perhaps i'm not so much looking forward to the intermission, but I definitely am looking forward to Paris! So far I've not really planned the intermission.. Possibly staying with relatives in London, possibly in a backpackers.. maybe I'll check out how the homeless do it in Hyde Park (that's a joke, right there).

I leave for Paris on Tuesday afternoon, and am totally excited about that. I have started to re-read the 'France' section of my Lonely Planet, and have got a list as long as my arm of things I want to see. I am thinking I will need to brush up on my terrible French before tuesday, considering all I can really do is introduce myself, and ask what the time is. Apart from that.. I could probably spout some useless words, including the following:
- oeuf - egg
- autobus - bus
- fair un looping - they go loop-de-loop (this was in one of my textbooks in year 9, and it stuck).
- fromage - cheese
- une chemise - i think that's like a shirt..?
.... and I could definitely ask someone if they wanted to go to bed with me, tonight. But then, I think everyone can ask that.

So, without further ado, I must vacuum and launder and ready this house for the leaving. I am looking forward to sharing my French adventures with you all.
